The weekend after Anzac Day, we came across a tiny notice in the Sydney Morning Herald about the Gallipoli Art Prize and an exhibition of the entrants at the Gallipoli Club in Loftus St near Circular Quay. We went to see the paintings on show there, and they were the kind that didn’t need explanations. These images have staid with me ever since, that’s why I’m posting the shortlist 13 years later.
